ADVANCES IN IMPROVING APPEARANCE OF DONOR AREA THROUGH TRICHOPHYTIC CLOSURE

By transplanting individual follicle units, we have consistently achieved a naturally appearing head of hair for our patients. Recently, however, the focus has shifted towards improving the appearance of the donor area. The most significant advancement towards this goal is a technique called trichophytic closure, which involves stitching the donor area in a special way so that hair grows through the line scar making it very difficult to see, even when backcombing through the hair in this area. We would like to commend Dr. Paul Rose for having developed the ultimate refinement of this technique called "LEDGE" closure, which we have utilized for the past 5 years to create virtually undetectable scars in this area.
